Engagement portraits are the first fun part of the wedding photography experience, and our studio includes them with each wedding photography package. Over the years, they have become very popular. A good engagement session can yield more than just a nice formal portrait of a couple suited to become a centerpiece in their future living room. Besides just formal portraits, we strive to also create a mix of photographs with a variety of looks, showing love, the couple's chemistry, their joy from being together, and how their characters interact.
What Is Our Approach To Engagement Portraits?
Each engagement photo shoot is a very collaborative creative process. We try to learn as much as possible about the personality of each couple and run the session accordingly. Some couples are very spontaneous and guide the flow of the session by improvising with ideas, poses, and places, while others are willing or even eager to receive some guidance from us. We consider engagement sessions very important for establishing a good working relationship and trust between us—the photographers—and the couple prior to the wedding day.
Where Do We Photograph Engagement Sessions?
Basically, we can accommodate any place within the ATL metro area that bears special meaning to you as a couple. There is one place, though, that bears special meaning for us! We are big fans of Atlanta's Piedmont Park. It holds endless opportunities to find interesting backgrounds at any time of day, has several spots offering a nice urban Atlanta skyline, and provides a broad variety of looks for your final set of engagement portraits. However, we have also obtained quite nice engagement pictures from other Atlanta area parks, like Red Top Mountain State Park in Cartersville. Marietta Square and Berry College in Rome have also worked well in shoots, as well as the scenery in several regional downtowns: Duluth, Roswell, Decatur, and Acworth.
What's Included In The Engagement Portrait Sitting?
You will usually spend about 2 hours with one photographer—Slava or Sarah. We will photograph in a bit less than a dozen places and then select 3 to 5 of the best photographs from each spot, resulting in about 30-50 final portraits. Within 7-10 days after the session, you will be able to browse previews on-line, share them with your family and friends, and use them to order prints. Your engagement pictures will also be included among the final high-resolution files from your wedding.
